Notes
a. Note:   According to my grandmother, Catherine (Mildenberger) Schenfeld, her mother's oldest brother, who would be Johannes, was killed by the Bolsheviks. Johannes was some sort of ranking official in the local government. During the time of the Bolshevik Revolution, the Russian soldiers would routinely seize most food produced by the Germans, leaving some of them with nothing. A group of the very hungry, stole food from a cellar, and ended up being granted refuge in the courthouse. The soldiers took exception to this, and shot Johannes, evidently as an example. At the time he was pitching hay, from the top of a haystack. The soldiers then climbed to the top of the tall stack, and pitched his body to the ground.
