Note: r infection. Cared for by Flora Bennington Pearce. Son, Blair, then given to maternal grandparents for raising; they requested Herman Pearce, then, have nothing more to do with boy. Herman's youngest child was also less than one year old then, and Flora was ill. Orla appeared to live a hard life. Family story: Orla was eating heartily at one Thanksgiving dinner and his father indicated he had not done enough to put the food on the table. Orla got up and took his rifle out to hunt his own dinner; accidentally shot himself. Died about seven weeks after giving birth to son, Blair Pearce (7 Sept. 1908 - after 1930). Blair raised by his maternal grandparents, William Cowings, Connersville, IN. Worked in factories in Connersville; adult history unknown after 1930. Some thought he performed as a wrestler in Ohio; no proof or evidence. Lost track of him.
