  He was also listed at a volunteer on Aug. 27, 1862, age 23 (suggesting he was born in 1839), in the 126th NY as a private and expired 20 July 1863 in Norfolk, as dying of measles and typhoid fever, a "meddle man." Indicates parents were "dependant," implying father alive then.
  Per Yates County's "Boys In Blue", p. 89:
  Willis E. Pierce (sic) enlisted and was enrolled in Co. I at Branchport Aug. 30, age 22 years. Joined for duty and mustered at Geneva Sept. 2. Died of typhoid fever June 20, 1863, in Balfour HOspital, Norfolk, VA. (Served 11 months.)
