Note: t on a trip west by his father, Col. Pearce, he took a male with him, reportedly a son, who died on the trip. Whether this was so, was Washington (the one needing to be accounted for) and whether the stone at the Pearce-Arnold Cemetery is merely a marker for him is unclear.
