Notes
a. Note:   he daughter of Abraham Shepard who died at the Battle of Minisink and Temperance Cory, daughter of Jonathan Cory of Warwick, Orange Co., NY, per the latter's will on file in Albany, NY. There is no record he married a second time prior to leaving NY. There is a gap between their second youngest child, Jonathan Pearce, and youngest child, Eli Kelsey Pearce, of 5 years, however. "Eli Kelsey" was a neighbor of the Pearces, and a well-known CT Revolutionary. He may just have been a neighbor. Mary signed on forfeiture papers for husbands land a couple of years before they went west. They seemed to have followed their son, Col. William Willis Pearce, Jr., by a year and stopped in Madison Twp., Clermont Co., OH, near Cincinnati, OH rather than going on to IN. It appears that the Pearce family of Scotch Plains, NJ (Micheal, son of John Pearce) originally owned land in Madison Twp. when they first migrated to OH, though they moved on to Butler Co., OH. Michael's family also had a son named Ellis Pearce.
Possible Mary made it to Franklin Co., IN but not as likely as her being with household in Hamilton Co., OH where some remained. No record of her after her spouse lost property in Yates (originally Ontario) Co., NY; but no burial record for her there either.
It is not clear where Mary Shepard Pearce died or when though it seems to be at the latest, shortly after arriving in OH or IN. Dating backward, if her youngest son was born in Nov. 1815 (Eli Kelsey) and she was about 40 years when he was born, she would have been born about 1775. However since she married in early January 1891 (source unknown, from family records, probably Bible or family lore), and there is no report for special approval for marriage to underage female, and their firstborn was born 25 months later, it would seem by custom she was more like 16-17 years old when she married, causing her to be born about 1773-4. Best guess Mary Shepard was born late 1773-4, was 15-16 when she married, and about 41 when Eli Kelsey Pearce was born.
Note:   William Willis Pearce, Sr.'s wife is listed as "Mary" on all documents. It appears she was t
