Note: le, Col. William Willis Pearce, Jr., operate the post office at Locust Grove (St. Omer) after Col. Pearce's son, James, who assisted him, died in 1847. Roswell migrated to Hendricks Co., IN in 1863, then Boone Co., IN. He followed his son, William Alvah Pearce, west to KS in the Spring of 1886. He resided in Cowland (Ravanna) Hodgman Co., KS (Garfield Co. set off, then Finney Co., set off). Finding the land too arid, he moved to eastern KS. No record of Roswell's burial has been located. Much of the information on Roswell Pearce was provided by Lora Short at [email protected], a Leffler-Bailey families researcher. Some was draw from "The Bailey Book," a Bailey family genealogy gathered beginning 1920-22. The the book suggests the religious denomination of this family was "Church of Christ," it was later indicated by Lola Bailey Pearce that they were "Christian Church" ministers. The family's history was compiled by Rev. Claud Fountain Pearce in multiple chapters. He was the son of William Alvah Pearce, and Roswell's grandson. The chapters are scattered about with various colectors and difficult to obtain. The first chapter is on Indiana life until the migration, then the migration west, and evidently concludes with family descendant history.
