Notes
a. Note:   y list for Shelby Co. or Decatur Co. His farm was situated on the county line between Shelby and Decatur, southwest of St. Paul, IN, and his father-in-law, Mr. James, resided east of him in Decatur Co., IN; thus, he might have expired in the second location, though not as likely.
There was some sort of falling out between Colville and Col. William Willis Pearce over how the father's land was divided, and how Colville's son, Willis, eventually acquired ot separate parcels of land off the southwest and southeast cornes of Col. Pearce's farm, Locust Grove, but it is not clear what the disagreement was about. Some persons held the issue against Col. Pearce, though those who knew him regarded him well. It seems he tried to make amends but there was still an issue - something in Willis' obituary about not pursuing his rightful claims against another.
Like Col. Pearce, Colville Pearce's title of "Captain" came from his service in the Indiana State Militia.
One suspects that Colville may not have been particularly tall as his descendants did not seem to be.
Surnames among descendants of Colville Pearce:
Tubbs, Bailey, Leffler, Higgins, Tuel, McQuary, Corwine, Thomas, Smith, Watson, Hall, Woodard (2), Deatley, Pearcy, Dale, Martin, Atkinson, Hart, Coen, Killion, Elam, Baker, Taylor, Caldwell, Anderson, Andler, McDonald, Pebble, Harrison, Whitsel, Wyatt, Haslett, Lowe, Halloran, Kelso, Hungerford, Peck, Smith, Center, Curtis.
Note:   Not clear if Colville died suddenly; seems that way. No record of him on the 1859 mortalit
