a. Note:   n the first petit jury in Warren County in Dec. 1803. He bought land in Greene, Clark, Champion, Shelby or Logan Counties (Range 4, Twp 3, Sec. 8), OH on Sept. 3, 1804. He served in the "Indian Wars" of 1812 under Gen. Henry Harrison.
  Alexander entered land in the first sale at Brookville in October 1820. The pioneers who settled eastern Shelby Co., IN were memorialized in Albert Glen Cooper's book "A Place Called Sodom."
  It may be that the middle initial "L." followin the name "Squire" in the Vanpelt/Pierce line may stand for Squire Little...as the Squire and Little families intermarried with the Michael Pierce and Phebe Squire lines.
  The Vanpelts were Anti-Missionary Baptist. They attended the Lewis Creek Baptist Church at Samuel Drake's.
  Alexander was one of the first County Commissioners and Justices of the Peace in Shelby County.
