Note: Per Maxine Harris: Although there is no record of the baptism of Hendrick, from the naming of his children, their baptisms at both the Pompton Plains and Totowa DRC (sames as to children of Garret and James), his locale in Vernon Twp, Sussex Co., NJ (as with James: "New Jersey in 1793," James Norton), the subsequent removal of Garret, Hendrick and James about 1800-02 to Seneca and Crooked (Keuka) Lakes in the Finger Lakes of NY, and being the only Jacobus families found in the area that early, it appears he belongs to this family group. Per Sharon Pearce: That Hendrick's sons Symon, Johannes and Garret, and apparently daughter Martyntje Jacobus Decker, subsequently moved to Franklin, Decatur, Rush and Dearborn Cos. IN and that William Pearce and his wife, Sarah Jacobus, traveled in the same party, links Sarah Jacobus to Hendrick's family; she was a niece. That Maxine Harris evidently surmises that Hendrick Jacobus died in Ontario (Yates carved out) Co., NY 1816-1820 is notable as this is the time period of these extended families migrating to OH and especially Franklin Co., IN. Perhaps Hendrick migrated but does not appear in the USFC in Franklin Co., IN in 1820 as do two of his sons, Symon and John, and William Pearce's household. Or maybe Hendrick was in the household of one of his sons in Franklin Co. Maybe his wife, Sara Sisco, also made the trip; Maxine Harris makes no further comment as to her. Maybe Hendrick was with his son Garret who appears on the records of Franklin Co., IN after 1820; he was still in Steuben Co., NY in the 1820 USFC. That may also indicate that Hendrick was not alive in Steuben Co. in 1820 anyway. It appears that all of Hendrick's living children migrated to IN. Nothing is learned of the other children, four daughters and a son. If all of Hendrick's children moved west and he and/or his wife, was alive, one would think he and/or she would have moved west with them. In fact, it seems odd that the parents would not have migrated with the sons, even if there were living daughters in NY.
