He enlisted June, 1861, at West Plains, Howell Co., MO., and again at Eleven Points Mill, Texas Co., MO., on Aug.4, 1862. He was sworn ito the Confederate Army Aug.7, 1862, at Thomasville, Oregon Co., MO. George surrendered, with his unit May 26, 1865 at New Orleans, LA, and was paroled June 7 1865, at Alexandria, LA. (Also serving in this unit was Albert McCubbins, George's brother-in-law) Confederate Pension Aplication #1656, Yukon, Texas Co., MO. disapproved; not indigent, Nov.15, 1913.
