Notes
a. Note:   Excerpt from a book, found at Oil City PA library, titled "PIONEER HISTORY of Jefferson County 1755 - 1844". Written by W. J. McKnight. "In 1835 a man by the name of Frank Goodar lived in Ridgeway township, on the Beechwoods road, near what is now Brockwayville, Snyder township. He was married, but concluded that he ought to have two wives, so with the consent of wife No. 1 he married Mollie No. 2, Squire McCulough of Pine Creek township performing the ceremony in the summer of that year. For this offence against morals Isaac Temple prosecuted Goodar before Thomas Lucas, Esq for bigamy: but at the hearing of September 12, 1835, he failed to prove a marriage with wife No. 1, and of course Goodar was discharged. All three lived together for seven years in a log cabin, on what was afterwards the Frost farm, and now the William Kearney place, where Frank and Mollie deserted Beckie, wife No. 1." ********************************************************************* Another email from D Lineman: While searching civil cases, found Job Carr in court with him being sued. Mostly for nonpayments or debts. The handwritten transcripts are hard to read. Job did some suing as well, during 1835-1837. Here was something rather interesting: September Session 1837, two cases. Commonwealth vs Maria Carr, indictment assault & battery. In short; Maria Carr of .... on 26 June 1837 with force and arms in & upon David Rankin then & there being did make as assault on him, did then & there beat, wound & ill treat & other wrongs & great damage. Commonwealth vs Job Carr & Slocum Carr, indictment assault & battery. Job Carr & Slocum Carr on 1 September 1837--it's written up the same way as the case against Maria (Mariah). ****************************************************************** Death Certificate per Delores Jeffs: Maria Cunningham 76 Manhattan Street, Rochester, NY Date of death: February 9, 1922 Date of birth: Feb 21, 1831 Age: 90 years, 11 months, 16 days.
