Steve Schwartz Tuscania, an American History http://renton.50megs.com/Tuscania ************************************************************************************ Notes by WA Barron (b. 1949) A rough, tough guy, he had run away from home and joined the Army for the Spanish American War. [His sword used to be in Big Grams room .. I can recall playing with it .. which probably explains why I became a fencer in college :) I guess the sword was sold off after Aunt Mary Barron died ] When (great) Uncle William left after visiting us, I recall him just springing aboard a moving, stream LIRR locomotive --that was pulling out of town-- all with a jaunty wave. Yeah, a tough guy .. who apparently was very poor .. living unmarried in SF until his death in 1969. Uncle William was a survivor of the WWI torpedoing of the SS Tuscania on 2/5/1918 . He was a 1st Lt in the Reserve Artillery Corps (Casuals) .
