Notes
a. Note:   [Hogan.FTW] The birth place of Hugh Hogan in Ireland is not known. The 1900 Federal census shows that he emmigrated from Ireland in 1864 and the 1910 Federal census shows it was 1866. Hugh's obituary stated that he had "resided in this country for the past forty years". This apparently meant his time in Townada PA area, for an emmigration date of 1866 would have given him 49 years in the U.S. by 1915, the yearof his death. Therefore, he must have lived in somewhere other than Towanda from the time of his emmigrationuntil 1875 {forty years before his death}. The Prothonotary Office of Bradford County in Towanda has no record od his Naturalization in that County during the period 1864 to 1866, so he must have been naturalized where he lived before his arrival in Towanda. on December 20, 1875, Hugh purchesed property at 328 State Street, Towanda PA, where he lived with his wife until his death March 29 1915. He worked in the Humphery show factory until it closed , rising to the position of foreman. Hugh then went into shoe making in his own shop. He married Anna M. Roche in 1876 or 1877. They had twelve children. One of them{Margaret} died, probably in infancy, for only eleven are listed in 1890,1900 and 1910 federal census records. These eleven and his wife were alive when he passed away in 1915. Hugh is burried in St. James catholic Cemetery, Towanda PA.
