Notes
a. Note:   (Note: appears to be draft Obituary which may not be written in the same handwriting as above letter) H.H. Cunningham Dies at Ogden, Utah. Was Native of West Decatur and was well known in Phillipsburg. Henry H. Cunningham, well known to the older readers of the Journal, dies in the hospital at Ogden, Utah on Nov 23rd ? following an illness of more than a year. The deceased was born in West Decatur May 10 1856 abd was a Son of Mrs. Mariah and the late Abraham Cunningham. His Mother is now a resident of DuBois and is 93 years of age. Leaving this community about 25 years ago, Mr. Cunningham located at Punxsutawney and became Superintendent of the Glass factory there. Later, He was made general Superintendent of the Company which owned the plant, and was transferred to Kane. In 1896, he went to Alaska in search of Gold, but becoming dissatisfied with his location and business proposition, he returned to Pennsylvania a year later, locating in Altoona, where he accepted a position as salesman and commission man. The Great West, with its Rocky mountains and healthful and delightful climate, appealed to him strongly, however, and he determined that he would locate in Nevada. He formed a company in Altoona under the name of the Nevada Syndicate, which embarked in mining at Mill City, Nevada. The Syndicate prospered and Mr. Cunningham became its general manager and one of its largest stockholders. The mine is moderately equipped with machinery, and the company is now constructing a large smelter nearby. Mr. Cunningham became ill in Sept. 1918 and later was taken to hospital in Ogden, where his death occurred on the date given above. Besides his aged Mother, he is survived by his wife who was formerly Miss Clara Phillips and now lives in Altoona; two sons ? Blaine of Philadelphia, and Hobart, at home in Altoona; and two daughters- Miss Lula at home, and Currie, married and living in Altoona. **END**
