She was employed in an apothecary at that time in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland at that time. She brought her family to the U.S. in the early 1800s, probably 1820 or thereabouts. They settled around Buffalo, N.Y. for a short time. While there, their daughter Bridget married a young man she met on the boat on the voyage. His name, Redmond Roche. His son Patrick Francis was born while they lived in New York State, and later was the dear Father Roche you have heard us talk about. Later they all moved down to Barclay, Pennsylvania. Bridget Howard Roche was my mother?s Aunt. Redmond was my Father?s cousin. My Mother arrived here about 1870. I do not know exactly when my Father came but they met there and were married from there too. I was born in 1873. Her brothers Thomas Cleary, Michael and James came from Ireland before she did. Nancy Corbett Howard sent for Tom, the eldest first, then he sent for Michael and so on. James, my Mother, Matthew and John and Bridget (later was married to John Sweeny). The oldest girl, Ann, married a John Lorigan and lived and dies in the Irish homestead. Nancy Corbett Howard was my Mother?s Grandmother. Nancy?s daughter, Mary Howard Cleary was my Grandmother. Mary?s daughter Honora Cleary Roche was your Grandmother. Honora?s son Martin was your Father, etc. The fifth generation and sixth from your point of view could well be Eleanor or Mary. James Howard had two sons. James Jr. was City Manager of Olean, New York for years and died while in office. Jeremiah (Jud for short) was a salesman. Both were educated at Elmora College (Bus), New York. Ann McMahone?s son Michael was or maybe is at present an official of the Erie Railroad. Bridget Howard Roche, Mother of Father Pat. Francis had two other sons and eight daughters. Michael Cleary, my Mother?s Father was a stone mason. Her uncles Matthew and Thaddeus Howard were horse shoers. My Father?s birthplace was Clonmel, County Clare. I do not know about my Father, Martin Roche?s family. His Father?s name was Patrick Roche. His brothers were Peter, Michael and Tommie, one sister Katherine. Peter and Katherine emmigrated to Austrailia. She married a Murphy. And that is all.
