Notes
a. Note:   They were married in Trinity Episcopal Church by John B. Verin(?) andtheir witnesses were "parents of both parties and a full church" THE DAY IN ST. AUGUSTINE The Vedder-Gard Wedding at Trinity Church Last Night If the past week's beginning of social events continues to grow, there isno knowing what will be the condition of society's belles and beaux- ofthose of St. Augustine, not "single-blessedness,"… -for to-night's prettyTrinity… is beautiful with evergreens and… and the assembling of the …pleof the quaint old town… the marriage of Miss Eleanor C. Vedder, daughterof Mr. and Mrs. Charles John Vedder, formerly of Troy, NY, now adopted byFlorida, to Mr. Wilbur Willis Gard of this city. The friends of the bride and the bridegroom have for the past month beenmaking preparations for excelling their friends' efforts on all weddingfestivities of the past. Mod…'s have been busily arranging a combinationof colors in gowns for the bridesmaids that would blend quietly with thechurch surroundings and the fair complexion, light blue eyes and petiteform of the bride. The colors decided upon-those of the rainbow-were wornin gowns of striped gauze, with flowers to match-Miss Jessie Robertson, red; Miss Lottie Harn, white, Miss Ann McMillan, blue; Miss Fannie Joyce, yellow; Miss Julia Baggett, lavender; Miss Minnie O'Hern, blue; MissBessie Frazier, pink; and Miss Elise Alexander, green. Altogether theyformed a bouquet of loveliness most difficult to gather outside ofFlorida. The bride wore a gown of white satin striped crepe, décolleté,with white chrysanthemums, and was waited on by a sweet mite of a child, sister of the bride, Bessie Vedder. The groomsmen were Ambrose andFrederick Vedder, brothers of the bride, Messrs. Fred Fenton, JosephEnslow, Ferd Traver, Erskine N. Reynolds, F.W. Robertson and G. McLintockofficiated as the ushers. The organ gave forth sweet music from the touchof Miss Mamie Robertson that inspired the youthful couple in all thatCupid had overlooked. The marriage ceremony was performed by the Rev.John B. Linn, according to the impressive and beautiful rites of theEpiscopalian church. An unusual thing in weddings in this church wasnoticeable-that of the wee maid conducting the bride to the chancel rail, the parents, the groom and the attendants waiting until it is asked who:gives this woman in marriage!" when the maid of honor stepped aside andthe father came forward, followed by the groom. After the ceremony at the church Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur W. Gard and Mr. andMrs. C.J. Vedder, the maid of honor, petite Bessie Vedder, thebridesmaids, looking most bewitchingly lovely, the groomsmen and the Rev.J.B. Linn were driven to Vedder home where a quiet wedding reception washeld. The tables in the suite to be occupied by the bride and groom werecovered with substantial tokens from friends afar and near. Mr. and Mrs.Gard, like the sensible people they are, concluded that Florida is theproper haven for pure bliss and forego the bridal trip.
