Note: This is from the Norwalk Reflector NORWALK MAN DIES FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED FROM TRACTOR-TRUCK ACCIDENT A local farm tractor driver injured in an accident with a tractor trailerFriday became the second fatality in Huron county this year. Michael A. Fritz, 46, of 2487 Ohio 18, Norwalk, died early this morningat Cleveland Metro Hospital from injuries sustained in an a accident onOhio 18 just east of Hartland Center Road. Lt. Jim Bryan of the Norwalk Post of the state Highway Patrol said thepost got word of Fritz's death this morning. "We were awfully disappointed about that. We knew it was a bad crash atthe time," said the post commander, who didn't know the nature of theman's injuries. Bryan said the troopers heard Fritz's condition was improving at onepoint, but then things took a turn for the worse. "I don't know the causeof death. My guess is there were internal injuries." he said. "Troopers continue to investigate the crash that occurred about 10:57 am.Friday on Ohio 18, just east of Hartland Center Road. No citations havebeen issued so far," Bryan said. Trooper Bryan Gockstetter said in his report that a farm tractor, drivenby Fritz, and a commercial tractor trailer driven by Frank D. Houseton,33, of Meridian, Miss. collided but no other details were available. Houseton was not injured. His passenger Everetta J. Bethune of Akron wastransported to Fisher Titus Medical Center with minor injuries. She wastreated and released, hospital spokesman Deb Reed said. Fritz was transported by helicopter to Cleveland Metro Hospital fortreatment of unknown injuries. Fritz was a farmer and worked as a maintenance man at Certainteed Co.,Avery. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Norwalk, and the OhioFarmers Union and National Cattleman's Association; and had been activein Future Farmers of America at Western Reserve. He enjoyed hunting,farming, and going to cattle auctions. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Martha L. (Godfrey); sons, MartinA. Fritz, Matthew C. Fritz, Michael J. Fritz and Marcus J. Fritz, all athome; his mother, Anne Fritz of Collins; sisters Mary Anne Fletcher ofCollins, Monica Waber of Jacksonville, Fla., Suzanne Valentine ofArlington, Texas, Anne Fritz of Westlake, Julianne Marshall of Clevelandand Roseanne Garrison of Taccoa Falls, Ga.; and nieces and nephews.
