Note: May 15 1911 My Dear Sister and Brother So glad to hear of the safe arrival of your little daughter. How I wish Icould see her. I can remember very plainly what a fine baby her fatherwas in my opinion. And if she is half as nice, she is pretty nice. Sisterjust as soon as you are able write me all the particulars about the colorof her hair and eyes etc. and how you are getting along. I am so glad youcould have your mother with you. Every one here is well and busy with the spring work. School will be outin a couple of weeks and I will be glad so the girls can run after thebaby. He is such a little mischief. And when he gets outdoors he is rightafter the horses and will run under their feet. Am afraid he will gethurt. Did you ever get the childrens picture. I sent it to you at Gary.Well I must stop the scribbling for this time. Write soon both of you.Lots of love to all and an extra lot for Eleanor Alma. lovingly yours, Alma [letter from Alma (Waber) MacGregor to Louis Arthur and Bessie (Vedder)Waber) I met Eleanor briefly in 1933 in Chicage (I was 9 years old at the time).I recall thinking how "neat" it was that this single gal had her ownapartment! -=-roland I can attest to the heart troubnle being cause of death-I remember howswollen his legs became because of water collecting in his legs & beforeDrs didn't really knowe how to treat. Eleanor stayed with us a few weeks every year. - Funny story - We wereprobably about 9 or 10 yrs old, going across a pasture with several cows& a young bull grazing. I wanted to display counttry knowledge (brag)and told her bulls hated red so it was good she wasn't wearing any red.But she said, I am wearing red. And she pulled off her red underskirtand carried it as she thought that was not wearing it(of cour se the bullcould see it in her hand, had he looked-But she was not wearing it !!
