a. Note:   Bruno Schwartz was a farmer all his active life and enjoyed gardenlng even in the last day of his life. Following is his obit: "Bruno C. Schwartz, 70, a well known and highly respected resident of the Pecatonica area for most of his life, pased away at his home on East Ninth Street about 3:40 PM Tuesday from an apparnet heart attack. He had been gathering vegetables in his garden and had gone into the house to rest when his summons came. He was born March 3, 1899 in Mischicott, Wisconsin, the eldest son of of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schwartz, and came to the Pecatonica area from Wisconsin as a child. He attended Burritt school and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Pecatonica. His marriage to the former Olga Meyer took place in Cherokee, Iowa on January 18, 1922. He engaged in farming unitl his reirement in 1959. He was an avid reader until his sight became impaired and his knowledge of a wide variety of subjects and his keen sense of humor, made him an individual most interesting to converse with. Of a friendly nature, he always had a word of greeting for those whom he passed by. Surviors include: his widow; two sons, Kim of Winnebago, and Jon of Rockford; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph(LuAnn) Desmond, of Barrington, Illinois; Mrs. James(Molly) Tarbert, Pecatonica; and Mrs. Michael (Audrey) Kelly of Dallas, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Melvin, Roland, and Leland of Rockford and Robert of Durand, Ill; and four sisters, Mrs. Vernon(Viola) Gaston, Winnebago: Mrs. Harold (Agnes) Stoll, and Lorraine Schwartz, Rockford; and Mrs. Harry(Arline) Peterson, Brodhead, Wisconsin, an Aunt Mrs. Dora Moeller, Armour, SD; and a number of neices and nephews. Burial will be in Willwood Burial Park, Rockford, with the Knapp Funeral Home Pecatonica, in charge of the arrangements. Bearers will be Merle Larson, Menten Larson, Garrett Zoet, Lee Bishop, Harris MIller, and Albert Brunning. Gene Peterson will be in charge of cars.
