a. Note:   In Virginia, William Daniel signed the petition for religious liberty along with his brothers. He supplied the Contitnental Army 200 of grass beef certified on June 28, 1782. He moved to Greene County, Georgia about 1793 where he was commissioned major in the Greene County Militia, May 9, 1793, The lands of Greene County orginally laid along both sides of the Oconee River from near Athens, Georgia to where the Apalachee empies into it, and then along the north bank to about Milledgeville.In the History of Greene County Georgia with data by Dr. T.R. Rice it is further noted that the creeks on the list of Head Rights granted may not be in present day Greene County but in Hancock or Taliaferro. On the list on page 37 of this volume William Daniel had acerage granted on the Oconee River and Beaver Dam Creek. A William and Edmond Daniel had land granted on Buffalo Creek. Thomas and Edmond Daniel indiviiually are listed as having recieved grants. These grants were made in 1786. Hannah Cunningham, his first wife was the mother of all of William's children. After the death of Hannah, William remarried in Wilkes County, Georgia on August 27, 1807 to Sarah Pettus.
