Note:   Note By Wade: Billy was born in St. Lukes Hospital across the street from where we lived in a big two story house with a bay window. In the attic was a good place to hide when you did not want to take care of your little brother. I was ten. Mother was 37 and was ill and could not clime to the second floor so we turned the dining room into her bedroom for a while. My older sister, my twin sister and I all took turns watching Billy. When we moved to Glenwood Park, Billy, of course, got to play while we three of us had to do all the chores. One day when I was about 15 working in the garden, I lobed dirt clogs at Billy while he was playing near the house. Boy, did I get in trouble for that. He never let me forget it either, even later when he worked for me. After the family moved to St Albans, Kanawha Co., WVa., Billy and his father were in a car together going downhill when his father pass out. Billy calmly turned the key off and stepped on the brake and saved a major accident. Then he got help for Dad who needed brain surgery. In 1958 the family moved to Tucson Adz and after attending school Bill joined the Air Force for about 5 years. He learned photography and was good at his trade. During his stay in the Air Force he was sent to Southeast Asia which changed his whole way of life. I think the things he saw and took pictures of caused him mental problems. He was honorably discharged for medical reasons from the service and came back to Tucson where he was under the care of the VA Hospital the rest of his life. He also drew a small pension from USAF but not enough to live on. Times were hard for him. He met Michelle and married her in 1974 and his son KC was born in 1976. In 1977 Michelle divorce Bill and left town and he did not where she went. Billy was heart broken and talked about his son off and on for the rest of his life. When I came back to town in 1980 I went to work for Industrial Time Service and owned it in 1981. Billy went to work for me in 1982 or 3 and work until 1991. When I sold the clock part of the business, he went to work for the man who bought the time service. In about 1992 he quit because he wanted to go and do more in the movies. Life for a while was good for him and he was doing OK. The family saw him quite a lot and he got along with people very well. He even went to Pima College to better himself. Around 1995 and until his death he worked for a security protective service and was very proud when he was cleared to carry a gun in the course of his work. Bill died because of Alcoholism and had been drinking when he was shot and killed by the Police. ------------- William Alexander DOYLE as Written By Sarahjane Doyle Nelson Swarstad. William was very talented in the arts. He had a photography business in Tucson AZ. He also did some acting in TV and movies. He had small parts in ( Young Riders, Four Eyes and Six Guns) and played in several other westerns. He was know as Billy Checker because he drove a black and white checkered car. He worked with his brother, Wade, in Wade's business repairing time recorders when he was not acting. He was well know in Tucson as there were over 200 people at his funeral. He spent 5 years in the US Air Force during the Vie-Nam wars.
