Notes
a. Note:   airmont State Teachers College in Fairmont, WV. She taught school at Fleming Elementary in Fairmont. This is when she met her future husband, Frank C. Wade. She and Frank were married at the Troxell residence on 606 5th St. Susan and Frank honeymooned in Pittsburgh and Washington DC. During that honeymoon trip the young couple met the head baker at the William Penn hotel. This particular hotel dining room was famous in those days. Apparently Susan developed such a relationship with this baker that she was able to get some of his recipes which she later used for some of her own well known preparations. During this same trip they also met and later became very close friends with Harry and Marjorie Leaf. Harry Leaf owned a confectionery store located across the street from the Troxell house on 606 5th St. in Fairmont. Tragically, Harry later committed suicide and Frank and Ed Troxell (Susan's brother) went out to Marjorie's home after she called and had told Frank and Ed she found him (after returning home) laying on the couch with a bullet wound in his head. The gun was beside him along with all insurance and pertinent papers. Emily Ann, was one of Harry and Marjorie's children, and was with her mother when they found Harry. Shortly after the store was auctioned off a gentleman by the name of Eddie Craft bought it. He later sold it and bought the Sixth St. Pharmacy on Fairmont Ave where Susan and Frank's son, James got his first job at 10 cents per hour in 1940. In the fall of 1941 Frank went to Akron, OH in search of work and Susan and the family lived with her parents and worked for a bakery on Locust Ave. During this time she developed pneumonia and almost lost her life. Hershel Yost, the family doctor, bed sat her for several days and helped pull her through. Susan did not work again until she and the family moved to Akron, OH in June of 1942. While living in Akron she worked for Yeagers Dept. Store in the notions dept. She worked there until about 1947 and then took a job with Akron Furniture Co. She became their credit manager after some time until she retired in 1965. The furniture company asked her to come back and help at Christmas in 1965 and she fell and broke her hip getting on the bus to go to work. Eventually after several problems she had the hip replaced. She also had a few mini strokes that set her back as well. For many years she was the choir director at the Lutheran Church in Fairmont. She was raised a Methodist but switched to Lutheran sometime after she was married. She was involved in several other church activities and taught the women's Sunday school class. She was also in charge of all church dinner functions. In addition, she was President of the Ladies Aid Society.

Note:   She attended West Virginia Weslyn in Buckannan, WV and graduated from F
