Notes
a. Note:   Death: GROS: District of Kirkcaldy and Abbotshall, Fife 1896 P.12/35 Helen Chaplin married to David Chaplin (Carter). Aged 61yrs. Father: David Beveridge (coalminer dec.) Mother: Mary Beveridge ms Clark (dec.) Cause of death: Chronic Bronchitis long standing; Acute Bronchial Asthma 4days. Registered by husband David Chaplain (his signature). Helen's first marriage/partnership not on this, possibly common law marriage. She gives her status as spinster on marriage to David Chaplain, but daughter Mary Sharps baptism record states she is the daughter of William Sharp and his wife Hellen Beveridge. Mary is living with Hellen's parents in 1861. In 1851 Helen is possibly in service in Crossgates, Dunfermline with the Bowman family as a House Servant. (ED 6A page 20 schedule no. 71 line 2 roll: CSSCT1851_87). She gives her birthplace as Auchterderran which is very possibly correct as that is where her mother came from. In 1861, possibly in service at Pitbauchlie Farm, Dunfermline. This is very near to Middlebank where her and David Chaplain got married.
