Ingleby Greenhow is a tiny village nr Easby, N. Yorks. The manor house is now holiday apartments and can be seen on this website http://www.inglebymanor.co.uk/index.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mary Ann is not on the 1841 census with her parents. Two possible records; Medomsly, Lanchester where there is a Mary Cook aged 14 living with a Mary Robson and her family p.7 (It is noted here that there seems to be some relationship between the Robsons and John Henry Best's first wife Mary Cutter. This is still being investigated) Ayton, N. Yorks where there is a Mary Ann Cook aged 13 in service to a Miller, Francis Andrews. It is notable there is a Thomas Ward and his wife Hannah on the same page. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mary Ann is recorded as a widow on marriage certificate to Henry McCawley and under the name Mary Ann Best. Previous husband Thomas Best married 11th April, 1846 Auckland Saint Andrew, Durham.
