OBITUARY: Indianapaolis News 15 oct. 1970 Page 2 DEATHS AND FUNERALS Nettie J. Finchum, Ex-News Employee by Bess Watson Mrs. Nettie J. Finchum, 85, a retired circulation department employee of The News died today in St. Francis Hospital. She was a resident of 59 S. 11th, Beech Grove. For 30 years prior ti 1949, she was a circulation substation manager in Beech Grove. She maintained her place of business in the garage of her home. Mrs Finchum was a 50-year member of Naomi Chapter of Eastern Star. She was first president of the Beech Grove Sunshine Garden Club. In 1938 a group of Beech Grove neighbors who were early settlers of Beech Grove met and organized the "Once a Month" Club, in which she kept up her membership and continued to attend meetings. Her husband, Elmer A. Finchum, a railroader, died in 1961. They had observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1956. In her later years she devoted herself to the care of properties whe owned in Beech Grove. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Little & Sons Funeral Home, Beech Grove, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors-daughters Mrs. Ruth V.
