Levi Chapman J.P " According to Common Pleas Court Journal #7, p. 196 at the March1842 Term of Court, JANE LONGWELL sued Cornelius Harson. This wasdismissed. In the same Journal, p. 246 she sued again in June 1842. On16 June it was suggested in Court that the plaintiff (Jane) had died;the case was continued. Again in Feb. of 1843 (Vol. 7, p. 360) thiscase was brought up and is missed, since JANE LONGWELL had died. Itwas in October of 1843 that Frederick Wait was appointedAdministrator. Huron County Law Record of Vol. 14, p. 362 gives somefacts of this lawsuit against Cornelius Harson. Jane filed the suiton 2 Sept 1841 claiming damages of $260, and for recovery of $800 inpension money and for another $1,000. She said on 16 Nov 1841 that asof 1 Aug 1841 Cornelius Harson owed her $1,000 for goods she sold tohim and for $1,000 loaned to him - and that he owed a total of $800.Cornelius answered that on 28 April 1840 she authorized him to drawher pension arrearages since he had supported her for many years. InMarch of 1842 Cornelius claimed that Jane had signed a release of thecase, but she answered that it was fraudulent. In June of 1842 it wassuggested that she had died. Actually, this makes it that she diedbetween March and June 1842, and not in 1843"..
