Note: Obit Mrs. Isaac Maule claimed by death. Keota lady died in hospital. Funeral Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Isaac Maule passed away Saturday at the hospital in Washington. She had entered the hospital Wednesday for the second of a series oftwo serious operations. It was performed Thursday morning but hercondition after several months of ill health was such that she failedto rally as expected. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2o:clock at theFederated Church in Keota, Iowa. The Marsh Funeral Home was incharge. The Rev H.N. Poston conducted the service. Dr. M.E. Maule,grandson of the deceased sang a solo to organ accompaniment by JanetHulse. Mrs. R.A. Montgomery served as organist for the service.Casket bearers were Dick Baley, W.H. Ross, Roderick Stewart, CarlWalton, Clark Teets and John McNurlen. Interment was in the KeotaCemetery. Sarah Ethel (Blair) Maule, daughter of John and Tennessee(Humphrey) Blair, was born May 12, 1877 in Johnson County and spenther girlhood in the vicinity around North English. On July 10, 1895, she was married to Isaac Maule at Hinkletown. Tothis union were born three children: Floyd Maule, Keota; VeraRodgers, Los Angeles, California; Mrs. George Baumert of Harper. Theylived on a farm in Iowa County until 1909 when they moved to a farm inSeventy Six township in Washington County. In 1939 they moved toKeota which has been the home every since. She is survived by her husband, three children, two sisters Mrs.Cordie Deusenbery of Keota and Mrs. Fred Smith of Kalamazoo, Michiganand one brother Charles of Maustan, Wisconsin: Also sixgrandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of family andfriends who will mourn her loss. Her father preceeded her in death in 1891 and her mother in 1936,also three sisters and two brothers. On November 2 she entered the Washington County hospital for anoperation and later came home but her condition required anotheroperation and she returned to the hospital on December 15 and thesecond operation was performed. All was done to keep her but shepassed away Saturday, December 18 at the age of 71 years 4 months and25 days. Among those present from a distance for the funeral were Melvin Blairof Maustan, Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Long of Cedar Rapids, Mr.and Mrs. John Long of Vinton, Dr. M.E. Maule of Waterloo, Miss ErmildaMaule and Mrs. Robert Whitley of Rock Island, Illinois, Mr. And Mrs.Wayne Shaw of Mt. Pleasant, Mr. And Mrs. Clair Dusenbery of Washingtonand a host of relatives from North English.
