Main Street Musings, by editor Carl Hogendord I, along with many others, was saddened by the death of Nellie Blair.Mrs Blair was one of the very first good friends I got to know when Iarrived in North English over 30 years ago. She was cooking inMahannah's Caf then, and it was always a pleasure to visit wit her afew minutes nearly every day. "Nell" as she was called by everyone, served ad cook in that caf for 28 years - and had a reputation farand wide as one of the very best cooks in eastern Iowa. Nell was agentle and kindly woman and I never saw her say an unkind word aboutanyone. During World Warr II, she was a worried by proud mother ofsix children in the service of their country. All five of her sonsand one daughter served in various branches of the service.
