It iswitnessed for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred andforty dollars......" The legal description is "Part of the West halfof the Northeast quarter of Section number three in township three ofRange five East of a meridian line drawn from the mouth of the GreatMiami River...." Deed H3: pages 135,136,137. dated 17 March 1855, recorded 7 Nov1859 between Heirs of George Marker, deceased to George Bowser. Married on 13 May 1801 at Middletown Evangelical Lutheran Church inFredrick Co. MD. Margaretha Sturm b. 16 Apr 1783 d. 12 Feb 1870. George Marker was born in Maryland and was there married toMargaretha Sturm, who had emigrated thither from Germany,where she wasa member of a wealthy farmer, whose estate in the fatherland is yet tobe divided among the descendants. (George E. Marker, Darke Co. Historyp.574. Note by RH: The above info about Margaretha's father isincorrect. He was Michael Sturm and died in Frederick County, Marylandin 1784.) George became a wealthy slaveholder of that state (MD) but being avery liberal man, he lost his property by going as security forothers. He then came to Ohio with his family. He located on the siteof the present Soldiers Home near Dayton, Montgomery Co where he spentthe remainder of his life, dying at about 70 years of age.(LeonardMarker,Darke Hist. p 622)
