Notes
a. Note:   Letter to EW Hockaday dated 15 Jan 1952 from Cliftonville.
My Dear Edith, I have been waiting till I thought you would have
returned home to write and thank you for the book. I have not read it
& shall keep it in stock to fall back on in an emergency. I have a
number of books from our Free Library here, & really they have a
splendid selection, & we can have four at a time. Phyllis gets them
for me, you see she has her cycle & finds it the best way to use it
for the shopping. We kept everything until Christmas Morn & in the
afternoon went to a friend's house for tea & to spend the evening, so
we had a very pleasant day -
Oh yes, all our affairs are happily settled. A friend gave us the
name of a good solicitor but should think it would be June before the
 final wind up -
I am glad Dorothy & Wilton are so happy in Jersey - where is Colin &
is he old enough to have any ideas on what he wants to do - I don't
 know his age.
I think I told you that Gladys at Delabole is engaged to an Italian.
He is called Julian Quadrani. I think it is spelt correctly. He was a
war prisoner & after going back to Italy left no stone unturned to
come back. Of course has to work on a farm for five years. I don't
know but think he has been back 2 to 3 years. He is a Catholic & so
they have decided to be married at the Registry Office in Camelford.
It was to have come off last autumn after harvest, but I do not know
if the event came off or not.
Phyllis & I are very well & get on very happily together, of course
there is the blank. Very much love & the best of wishes for the year.
 Aunt Rose.
b. Note:   With elder sister Emily.
