His father's name is from his marriage certificate; the civilian version is Robert DAVIES, the military version is William DAVIES, a pensioner of 4th Batty. 5 Brigade R. A. In 1928, was living in St Helier (as on PWWD-D's marriage certificate). Records of St Helier General Hospital give his place of birth as Gibraltar; this is confirmed in a letter from him to PWW-D. His father (on his military marriage certificate) is described as a pensioner of 5th Brigade, Royal Artillery. Red Cross letter to PWW-D dated 13 April 1944 (reply to letter dated Dec 1943):- "Glad to hear from you. How is Gerald and Barbara? Had cataract removed from right eye. Left eye to be done also. Hope all well."

Le Breton, informed by Edward JG Mourant, Secretary of the General Hospital on 25 May 1944.His death certificate gives his age as 86 years and 4 months, suggesting he was born about January 1858. DAVIES - Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, the 24th inst., William Thomas Davies, aged 86 years, of Parkdene, West Park Avenue. Deeply regretted. FUNERAL. Mills and F. Willis. Chaplain was R.J. Brandon. William Thomas Davies was a Sergeant, Royal Fusiliers, his father was William Davies, pensioner of 4th Batty. 5 Bde. R.A. Both were resident in Wellington, both aged 28. Married by License in Coonor Church.
