Notes
a. Note:   AN OLD CITIZEN GONE.- The Funeral of the late John Jarvis, whose death
 was
announced in our obituary column on Thursday, took place this
 afternoon
from the family residence, on the corner of King and Cathcart Streets,
 and
was largely attended. The deceased was born in Leamington, Hampshire,
 Eng.
from which place he removed to Southampton where he spent a portion of
 his
younger days. While there he got married and became the father of
 seven
children. In the year 1851 the family immigrated to this country and
took up their abode in Hamilton, where he conducted business in the
 second-
hand line for the past 29 years. Mr. Jarvis was widely known and
 highly
respected, having occupied the premises above referred to for fifteen
years. At the time of his death he was in his 69th year. He leaves a
widow and seven children to mourn their loss, all of whom have grown
 to
the age of maturity, the youngest being the wife of Mr Scott, who
 keeps
a furnishing store on King street east. All the members of the
 family,
although living in different sections of the country, were privileged
 to
 be present at the funeral.
