Notes
a. Note:   From Records from Washington County, Illinois; Marriages 1831 - 1832 - Partial List; Furnished by : Kay F. JETTON & Karla WOOD; found on-line- http://www.iltrails.org/Washington/records/marr1831.html: George Wood & Lucinda Moore; Lic. Date: February 14, 1832; Date of Return: February 19, 1832 ============= In the Probate file for George's father-in-law Jesse Moore, who died in June of 1835, George's name appears numerous times. He purchased a number of items of from the estate sale and he seems to have done work running Jesse's farm and estate, after his death. It is clear that he was close to Lucinda's family. - RW ============= From the 1840 Federal Census of Washington County, Illinois; from ancestry.com, image 15 of 26: George Hood; 1 male under 5 years (William), 1 male 20-29 years (George); 1 female under 5 years (Sarah), 1 female 20-29 years (Lucinda) (Listed nearby are the households of Permelia Moore, recent widow of Lucinda's brother Elias Moore; Thomas L. Moore, Lucinda's grandfather; and Jonathan B. Moore, brother to Lucinda. - RW) ============= George and Lucinda seem to be listed twice on the 1850 census. Dan Hood seems to feel that they moved between the two enumerations, which seems to be supported by the fact that the neighbors are different. There are also some curious differences between the two records: From the 1850 Federal Census of District 20, Washington County, Illinois, taken August 15, 1850, household #40; from ancestry.com, image 6 of 168: George Hood; age- 38, male, occupation- Farmer, real estate- $500, born- South Carolina, can't r/w Lucinda " ; age- 38, female, born- Kentucky, can't r/w William " ; age- 14, male, born- Illinois, in school Sarah " ; age- 12, female, born- Illinois, in school Simeon " ; age- 7, male, born- Illinois, in school John " ; age- 1 male, born- Illinois --------------------- From the 1850 Federal Census of Washington County, Illinois, District 20, taken September 26, 1850, household #713; from ancestry.com, image 96 of 168: George Hood; age- 32, male, occupation- farmer, real estate- $400, born- South Carolina, can't r/w Lucinda " ; age- 32, female, born- Kentucky, can't r/w William " ; age- 13, male, born Illinois, in school Sarah T. " ; age- 11, female, born- Illinois, in school Simeon " ; age- 8, male, born- Illinois, in school John " ; age- 1, male, born- Illinois David Smith; age- 36, male, occupation- carpenter, born- North Carolina, can't r/w (George and Lucinda are listed next door to the household of what I think is George's brother Thomas. They are also living very close to the households of Lucinda's brother's, David Moore and Jonathan Moore. - RW)
