Notes
a. Note:   From the book "Genealogy of the Swink Family of Missouri" by Robert A. Swink; The Star-News Publishing Co., Pasadena, California, 1940: GEORGE SWINK, born in Franklin County, Tennessee, accompanied his brother to California; became ill, returned, then hearing of an opening as a plantation manager in Mississippi, went down there, and secured the position. Later, when the War of the Rebellion broke out, he joined a Mississippi regiment as 1st Lieutenant and went to war on the Confederate side. In one of the battles fought in Virginia he was killed; date unknown. There is no record that he ever married. ================ From the records of the 1850 Federal Census in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri, Saline Township, taken October 5, 1850, page 245, household #583; from ancestry.com, image #82 of 116: George T. Swink; age- 18, born- Tennessee, in school =============== George is buried in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia. There are a large number of Confederate Civil War soldiers buried there. He is buried in the Soldiers Section H Lot: 265. He is apparently listed as having served in the 21st Mississippi Regiment, and his date of death is listed as July 10, 1862. Given the note above, the date of his death and the location of this cemetery, it seems likely he was killed in the Battle of Malvern Hill or it's aftermath, in Henrico County near Richmond.- RW
