Cause of death: Appoplexy ========== From the Carleton Messenger: April 25, 1901 Last Thursday occured the death of John Ward, age 58 years, at his home four miles west of here. He has been failing in health for the past six months. He was buried from St. Patrick's church, Stony Creek, last Saturday, Rev. Heidenrich officiating. =========== In the middle cemetery of the St. Patrick's Parish on Exeter Road, there is a headstone with the following inscription: "Mary Ward- 1841-1920 John Ward- 1843-1901 Anne Brown- 1861-1945" (I am pretty sure that this is the grave of John and his wife Mary (McCloskey). Anne Brown is John's niece, the daughter of his sister Alice (Ward) McManus, who was married to a John Brown. I'm not sure why Ann is buried with her Uncle and Aunt. Anne's husband is buried nearby by with a pretty simple headstone, as is John's sister Alice. -RW)
