McMannus, aged 83, died at his home yesterday morning at 10 o'clock. He was born in December, 1852, near Stony Creek. He has lived all his life in the same neighborhood. He was the son of Owen McMannus, who came to Exeter township in 1831 from Penn Yan, New York, and Alice Ward, who came to the county with her parents in 1831 from Pennsylvania. Mr. McMannus is survived by three brothers, Patrick, William, and James who all live at the McMannus home in Carleton, and one sister, Mrs. Ann Brown of Flint. The body was taken to the Baker funeral home and will be returned to the McMannus home today. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 o'clock a St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. James Melling officiating. Burial will be in the McMannus lot in St. Patrick's cemetery. ----------------------------- From the Carleton Messenger: September 10, 1936 Thomas H. McManus, aged 83 years, passed away at the McManus home in Exeter township, Friday forenoon at 10:00 a.m. The body was brought to the Baker Funeral home and was then returned to the home Saturday forenoon. Funeral services wee held in St. Patrick's church, Monday morning at 9 o'clock with Fr. James Melling officiating. The interment was made in the McManus lot in St. Patrick's cemetery. Mr. McManus was born in the same neighborhood where he lived his entire live, just across Stony Creek fro the late home, in December 1852. The father Owen McManus, came to Exeter township from Penn Yan, New York, in 1831, and the mother, Alice Ward McManus, came the same year from Pennsylvania, making them among the early settlers of Exeter township. Thomas never married.
