Note: Although I do not have a lot of information aobut Mariah (or Mary Ann) Ward York, I know that she was the she was the second of four known children born to her parents John Ward and Ann Murphy. She was born in 1840 in Michigan, most likely Exeter Township, Monroe County. She married Patrick York in about 1861, also probably in Exeter Township. Mariah and Patrick had four children that I know of, all born in Exeter Township: Mary Ann (1862), John (1863), Jacob (1867) and Elizabeth (1869). Patrick died relatively young, in about 1876. Mariah died in 1889. She is buried in the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Carleton, Monroe County, Michigan. I'm not sure why they are buried together. John was listed as the sponsor of the baptism of Mariah's daughter, Elizabeth York. They both seem to have spent a good portion of their lives as widower and widow, so perhaps they lived together before Mariah died in 1889. -RW)
