Note: From Ancestry.com. Missouri Marriage Records, 1805-2002 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations, Inc., 2007: Name: Mr Frank S Waggener Marriage Date: 2 Jun 1891 Marriage Location: Jefferson, Missouri Marriage County: Jefferson Spouse Name: Miss Mary E Shannon ================ The following record was sent to me by the Missouri State Archives: ****** From Jefferson County Deeds, Volume 50, page 281; An indenture dated February 23, 1900 in Jefferson County, Missouri, in which Mary E. Waggener conveys to S. T. Waggener for the sum of $90: "All that part of a 39 acre tract of land in the East part of the North fractional half of fractional section 18 in Township 40 Range 6 East lying north of the county road leading from Hematite to Festus, the same having been conveyed to the said Mary E. Waggener, party of the first part by Harriet McMinn widow of Jerry McMinn deceased, Stella Francis, Munroe McMinn, and Jennie McMinn his wife by deed of even date herewith containing about ten acres." The deed is recorded on May 4, 1900. It was notarized by Mary's brother-in-law, "J. H. Waggener, Notary Public." (I have no real idea what this transaction is about. S. T. Waggener is Mary's brother-in-law, Stokley Waggener, who owned the Waggener Company Store in Festus and a lot of property. I originally thought that this involved Mary's mother-in-law, Mary (Moore) Waggener, but have concluded from the middle name initial that it must be this Mary Waggener. In the 1898 Historical Atlas Mary's brother-in-law, William Horace Waggener is listed with 48.5 acres in Township 40, Range 6, Section 18, but neither Mary nor her husband Frank Waggener are listed. I can not even guess at what connection, if any, there is between that property and this.-RW) ============= From the 1900 Federal Census of the City of St. Louis, County of St. Louis, Missouri, page 162, taken June 14, 1900, 9th Ward, 927 Wyoming Street, household #26; genealogy.com Census Microfilm Records.
