Notes
a. Note:   Martha E. Perrin was the first of five children born to her parents Daniel S. Perrin and Susan Armitage. Martha was born in Au Sable, Iosco County, Michigan on December 26, 1873. Her parents had married on January 1, of that year in Ontario, Canada, and apparently moved to Michigan before Martha was born. Martha apparently grew up in this general area of Michigan. I have been unable to locate a marriage record for her husband William George Sturman, but I believe that they married in about 1894, also in this same general area. In the 1900 census they are listed in Turner Township of Arenac County, Michigan. By 1910, Martha and William were living on a farm in Redford Township of Wayne County. I believe that this was the farm of William's parents, that he grew up on. William's father had died in 1904 and his mother in 1908. Presumably William took possession of the farm in this time period. Apparently this was a fruit farm, because William is listed as a fruit farmer on the 1910 and 1920 censuses. William and Martha had apparently sold this farm by 1930, because they were living then on Birwood Avenue in Detroit. According to their granddaughter, Gloria (Sturman) Waggener, they later had a small farm on 10 1/2 Mile Road in Southfield, Oakland County, Michigan. This was near to the where Gloria was living with her parents Raymond (son of William and Martha) and Margaret Sturman. William died in Detroit on November 26, 1964. Martha had died in Detroit on May 30, 1958. They are buried together in the Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.
