They give a taste of the kinds of businesses she ran. The first one, from Saturday June 8, 1946, apparently not too long after Marian and George had moved to Tuscon, and Marian had opened up the El Merendero, her first restaurant: El Merendero St. Phillips Plaza Campbell at East River Rd. Starting this Sunday May 3, Mrs. Waggener's The Chalet will serve a Chuck Wagon Supper Buffet (all you can eat) for $1.25.Here's a sampling: Swedish Meat Balls, Bar BQ Chicken, Potato Salad, Caesar Salad, Cole Slaw, Baked Stuffed Potato, Ranch Style Beans, Garden Peas, French Fried Eggplant, Relish Tray Assortment.Steak, Barbecue Beef, Fried Shrimp, and Ham Steak can be ordered, ranging in price from 75 cents to 1.50 extra. Country Club Both under the Management of Marian Waggener ============= From the Tuscon Daily Citizen (Tuscon, Arizona) Tuesday July 4, 1972, page 10: Waggener services Thursday Funeral services will be Thursday for Mrs. Marian Waggener, 64, a longtime Tuscon restaurant operator, who died Sunday at Tuscon Medical Center. The services will be at 11 a.m. at Adair Funeral Home, 1850 N. Dodge Blvd. Burial will be in Tuscon Memorial Park South Lawn. Mrs. Waggener, a school teacher in Detroit for 20 years, came to Tuscon in 1946 and began operating the now defunct El Merendero Dining Room on River Road. She also operated the County Club Dinning Room and was co-owner of the Chalet Dining Room.
