Mrs. Knechtges, Mrs. Joseph Kopf and son, Arthur, and daughter, Jean, and Mrs. John Steffes were dinner guests at the Albert Steffes home and supper guests at the John J. Steiner home Tuesday. Mrs. Knechtges is a cousin of the Steffes family. (Mrs. John Knechtges was Christie Anna McLeod Knechtges, widow to John Knechtges. John was a nephew of Katherine's, through her husband John. Mrs. Joseph Kopf was her daughter Bertha, Albert was her son, and John J. Steiner was the husband of her daughter Ida.- RW) ============ From Carol Froode. The date and the name of the newspaper are not named: Mrs. John Steffes Is Called To Rest At Chilton On Sunday Chilton.- Mrs. John Steffes passed away at her home in Chilton early Sunday morning after an illness of about a week. Mrs. Steffes, nee Catherine Maier, was born in Johnsburg on may 9, 1866, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Maier. She later married John Steffes at the Holy Trinity church in Jericho. After their marriage, the couple operated a farm until 1924, when they moved to the city of Chilton. Since that time their son, Albert Steffes has operated the farm. In February, 1926, her husband passed away. Among the survivors are: one son, Albert, and five daughters, Mrs. Henry (Anna) Thill of town Stockbridge, Mrs. John J. (Ida) Steiner of town Charlestown, Mrs. Joseph (Bertha) Kopf of town Chilton, Mrs. John C. (Isabel) Mullarkey of New London, and Miss Josephine of Bakersville. One sister, Mrs. Simon Scholl of Fond du Lac, survives with 42 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Mrs. Steffes was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Simon and Peter, and two daughters, Martha and Mrs. Alma Schuster. The deceased was a member of Christian Mother's society of St. Mary's Catholic church of Chilton, and a member of the Holy Trinity church at Jericho. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Erbe- Hoffman Funeral Home in Chilton, and at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church in Chilton. The Rev. Joseph Edepsky will officiate. Services will also be held at Holy Trinity church in Jericho at 10:30 o'clock with the Rev. F. T. Heimann officiating. Burial will be made in Holy Trinity cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of services.
