Note: Elizabeth McManus Henderson was known most of her life as "Libbie." She was the 8th of 12 children born to her parents Owen McManus and Alice Ward, on October 4, 1862, in Monroe County, Michigan. She lived most of her life in Exeter Township, in Monroe County. Her father was a farmer there. On Novemember 17, 1891, she married Archibald "Archie" Henderson in Saginaw County, Michigan. Archie was apparently a blacksmith. I actually know very little about Libbie. I know that both her and Archie died fairly young at the age of 50 years old. Archie died in 1910 Exeter Township, and Libbie died in 1913, apparently in the home of her sister Ann Brown, in Flint, Michigan. - Rick Waggener ====================== From "Miscellaneous Records of Monroe County, Michigan" by Virginia Mehregan, 1988; published by the Gen. This seems to show that Archibald was living in Flint. The witness John Brown was the husband of Libbie's sister Ann, and they were living in the Flint area. William McManus was Libbie's brother. This record seems to confirm the fact that Archibald's parents were William Henderson and Catherine Richards. -RW) ============ From the Federal Census of 1900, Monroe County, Michigan, Exeter Township, taken June 4, 1900, page 3B; ancestory.com, Monroe County, District #70, image 6 of 42; Elizabeth is listed in living with her husband, 3 chidren, and her older brother Patrick: House #53, no apparent address; ----- Libbie; wife, female, born- Oct 1862, age- 37, married 8 years, mother of 3 children- all living, born- Michigan, parents born- Michigan, r/w's ==================== From the Federal Census of Monroe County, Michigan; Exeter Township, district #92, page 2A, taken April 18-20, 1910, household #24; from ancestry.com, district #91, image #3 of 32: * * Henderson, Libbie; daughter, female, age- 47, widowed, mother of 5 children/ 5 children living, born- Michigan, father born- Pennsylvania, mother born- Michigan, occupation- housekeeper, r/w's ----- William; grandson, male, age- age- 14, born- Michigan, father born- Canada, mother born- Michigan, r/w's, in school ----- Geneive; granddaughter, female, age- 12, born- Michigan, father born- Canada, mother born- Michigan, r/w's, in school ----- Frank; grandson, male, age- 7, born- Michigan, father born- Canada, mother born- Canada, r/w's, in school ----- George; grandson, male, age- 2, born- Michigan, father born- Canada, mother born- Canada (Libbie and four of her five children are living in the household of her widowed father and several older brothers. Her husband Archie had died just 3 months earlier. Apparently, she and the children moved in with her father Owen after Archie's death. This was apparently the house that she grew up in and that her father and brothers had lived in for many years. Elizabeth would be dead herself in 3 years and her father Owen in 5 years. -Rick Waggener) ======================= From Vital Records, Monroe County, Michigan by Nancy De Graff Toll Charter, St, Patrick's Parish: "Henderson, Mrs. Archebold- -d.
