Note: From Richard Waldsmith: My father, James Albert Waldsmith, was born near Logansport, IN on August 27, 1893. He was raised on a farm in Indiana and also lived for a time in Dayton, OH. He graduated in 1914 from Purdue University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served as an ambulance driver in the First World War He participated in the Purdue Glee Club and was an accomplished banjo player. One of his best friends was Wesley Picker, a fraternity brother from Purdue who worked in sales for Westinghouse and lived in Redford a suburb of Detroit. I remember my Dad as a hard worker and impatient to get it done NOW! kind of guy. He had a long career with Allied Chemical Co. and was plant manager at the Solvay Division’s Detroit facility in the Delray area when he died at 62 years old, in April of 1955. He is buried at the Grand Lawn Cemetery on Grand River Ave., near Telegraph Rd. ============ From Ancestry.com.
