Curiously there are a number of differences between the different entries. Both are from Beauvais Township, St. Genevieve County, Missouri, St. Mary's Landing Post Office. The first is household #30, and was taken on July 3, 1870, on page 493. The second is household #221, and is from July 14, 1870, on page 506. It appears that the enumerator is the same person, Phil Mendant: (1) Kenner, John; age- 50, male, occupation- farmer, real estate- $2,500, personal property- $800, born- Missouri ------ Matilda; age- 45, female, occupation- house keeps, born- Missouri ------ Mike; age- 19, male, born- Missouri ------ Mary; age- 15, female, born- Missouri ------ Elizabeth; age- 14, female, born- Missouri, in school ------ Rosinda; age- 12, female, born- Missouri, in school ------ Charles; age- 10, male, born- Missouri, in school ------ Abraham; age- 8, male, born- Missouri, in school In this entry, John is listed as living next door to his son James Kenner, and the two Underwood children are listed in James' household. (2) Kenner, John; age- 55, male, occupation- farmer, real estate- $2,500, personal property- $850, born- Missouri ------ Matilda; age- 47, female, born- Missouri ------ Michael; age- 20, male, born- Missouri ------ Mary; age- 16, female, born- Missouri, in school ------ Elizabeth; age- 14, female, born- Missouri, in school ------ Lucinda; age- 12, female, born- Missouri, in school ------ Charles; age- 10, male, born- Missouri, in school ------ Abraham; age- 8, male, born- Missouri, in school ------ Nancy; age- 4, female, born- Missouri Underwood, Charles; age- 10, male, born- Missouri ------ Mildred; age- 7, female, born- Missouri John's daughter Emaline was married to a James Underwood, so I assume that these two Underwood children are hers. I do not know why she is not listed here. ========= John Henry and his wife Matilda are reportedly buried in the Brown Cemetery in Perry County, Missouri.
