Note: Anna McKenzie was born in about 1850, in Ontario, Canada, probably in Huron County. Her parents' names were Donald McKenzie and Mary Cameron. Her father and probably her mother, were from Ross-Shire, Scotland. They had apparently come to Ontario, shortly before Anna was born. I don't have a lot of information about Anna. I believe her father died when she was about 14 years old. In the 1871 Canadian Census, she is listed in Ashfield Township, Huron County, in the household of her widowed mother, with her occupation listed as servant. On January 20, 1875, she married Alexander McLeod in Ashfield Township, Huron County, Ontario. There were eight children born to Anna and Alexander: Daniel Kenzie (1876), Christie Anna (1877), Archibald Angus (1879), Katherine (1880), Alexander (1882). Harry Roderick (1886), William (1889) and William John (1890). All but William John, the youngest, were born in Canada. In around 1887 to 1889, Anna and Alexander and their children moved from Canada to Calumet, Houghton County, Michigan. Anna died there on June 18, 1896, apparently of cancer of the jaw. She is buried with her husband, their son William, their daughter Katherine and her husband Joseph Wilmers, in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.- Rick Waggener ============= From the 1851 Canadian Census of Blenheim Township, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada; pages 173- 174, lines 44, 45 & 46.
