Note: Elizabeth Waggener was the second child born to her parents, Reuben Garnett Waggener and Mary Moore, on December 22, 1840. She was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky, apparently near to or in Louisville. She moved with her parents to Rush Tower, Jefferson County, Missouri, apparently before she was a year old, in the fall of 1841. Elizabeth grew up in Rush Tower and she met in the area and on April 11, 1860 married James McCormack England. I don't actually have much personal information about Elizabeth. She and James were married for 44 years until his death in 1904. James was a prominent farmer, merchant and businessman of the area. I know that she was the mother of nine children and that all of the children survived her. I can only assume that she felt that her children were her legacy. The file (#3256) was 22 pages long. Elizabeth died without a will, but the distribution of her estate seems to have been pretty straightforward. All of her nine children were still living at the time of her death and they were her heirs. She was listed as dying on February 4, 1908, in Hematite, Jefferson County, Missouri. The probate was begun on February 15, 1908 and Elizabeth's son Richard Edmund served as the executor. The names and residences of the nine children at that time were listed in the order of their birth: Alice England- Jefferson County, Missouri Maggie Irwin- Jefferson County, Missouri J R England- Jefferson County, Missouri R E England- Jefferson County, Missouri Florence Weaver- Jefferson County, Missouri Lettie England- Jefferson County, Missouri J W England- Birmingham, Alabama Minnie Humphrey- City of St. Louis, Missouri W R England- Jefferson County, Missouri An inventory was conducted on February 28, 1908. There is no mention of the property, which possible had been sold or distributed in some manner after the death of her husband in 1904. There was an initial payment of $421 to each of the nine heirs on April 1, 1908, and then a final payment to each of them of $115, as the final settlement on December 10, 1909. =============== From records gathered by "Desoto Joe," at the Hematite Methodist Cemetery, on Mapaville road in Jefferson County: Elizabeth England- 12/22/1840 - 2/4/1908 Elizabeth is buried with her husband James and a number of their children.
