Mother had a severe stroke early in April, 1928. Florence quit her job (at General Motors) in Pontiac and went home. At that time the family was living on a farm on Saginaw Bay, near Standish, Michigan. Mother lived only a few days and Florence decided to stay home and keep house for dad, the twins (Robert and Reuben), who were running the farm, and our sister, Blanche. Blanche was just about to graduate from High School.
