Notes
a. Note:   From Karen Black (http://www3.sympatico.ca/karen.black/perrin.html): "John Stafford Perrin was born in Disley, Cheshire, England. He was christened on June 2, 1805 in Saint Mary, Disley, Cheshire, England. He died September 29, 1874, and is buried in Linden Valley Bible Christian Cemetery, in Victoria County, Ontario, Canada. John initially married (1) Nancy Brown on January 28, 1826 in Cavan Twp., Ontario, Canada. He married (2) Mary PUE, born about 1810 in Ontario, Canada, and died before 1843 in Ontario, Canada, daughter of John PUE and Mary DOUGLAS. He married (3) Mary (Elizabeth or Ellis) Shell on April 30, 1843 in Omemee, Victoria County, Ontario, Canada, born 1820 in Mariposa Township, Victoria County, Ontario, Canada; died 1881." ------------------------------ "It is assumed that John married Mary Pue. This conclusion has been extrapolated from the marriage register of daughter Elizabeth Perrin. John Inherited 35 pounds when his father John died in 1857. It is also assumed that he is the John Perrin who is buried in Linden Valley. There is some confusion about John's birth date. Ruby Powne believes he was born in 1810, but if that were so, then it unlikely that he married his first wife Nancy Brown in 1826. For this marriage, his witnesses were his brothers Joseph and Daniel Perrin." =============== From Ancestry.com. England, Select Cheshire Bishop's Transcripts, 1598-1900 [database on-line]. I am pretty sure that this is a record for John, even though he must have been about 22 years old at the time, not 32 years old. Everything else seems to be correct. Listed on the same page are applications for John's brothers, Joseph, Daniel and Josiah. The ages of Daniel and Josiah are also off by about 10 years. They do seem to confirm that they all immigrated to Ontario with their parents, around 1816-1817. =============== From the St. John's Anglican Church Register, Cavan Township, Victoria County, Ontario, located and sent to me by Michael Stephenson: ****** Married by Sienca? this 28 January 1826 John Perryn of Monaghan and Nancy Brown Clark by m J. Alex Rogers of the Township of Elron Joshiah Perrin of the Township of Mariposa County of Victoria (The only child listed here that I can't account for is Stephen. He could be a child of one of John's earlier wives. The reference to Mary as his "devoted housekeeper" seems to indicate that they were not married, but later he refers to her as his "just wife." Clearly they lived together for a significant time and had 10 or 11 children together, which further seems to indicate that they were married.) ---------------------- There are several other papers from when the will was probated in March of 1875.
