Note: Beci Anderson sent me a copy of Joni's obituary: Joni Lanel Adams Joni Lanel Adams passed away peacefully in her Oakland home on April 7, 2014. Petite in stature but tremendous in heart, Joni opened her home to many and positively impacted all who came into contact with her. She invested her time and energy into the betterment and happiness of those most in need, and the warmth of her Oklahoman accent was surpassed only by the warmth of her spirit. While her departure was unexpected, her legacy as a wife, sister, mother, grandmother, business owner, and friend will last far beyond her time. Joni was born January 26, 1938 in Whitiger Hospital in Pryor, Oklahoma, and graduated from Salina High School in 1956. She earned her Masters Degree at CSU Hayward, and operated a popular Oakland boutique, Ritzy, for 10 years in the 1980s. She is survived by her loving husband Robert, children Tobi, Tod, Beci, Bobby, and Rex, grandchildren Jessica, Atom, Grover, Justin, Corey, Hattie, Alex, and Alexis, brother Don, sister Cheryl, many loving nieces and nephews, a large extended family, and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Myrtle, mother Inez, father John, and brother Gary. A private memorial was held in her beautiful home. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations in her name be made to a local women’s shelter. What a beautiful soul. We will never forget you, Joni!
