  Re: WAGHORN
The name Waghorn is of scotish origin of the nickname type taken from feature of the land arround the persons home. a lot of Waghorns come from the Dumbarton area of Scotland first reference i have found is 1482 a case of treason against the king aparently some members of the family land owners in the Glasgo area.It was sugested that parts of the family moved down to kent along the banks of the thames to the various shipyards of the navy to build ships such as Greenwich Rotherhythe Nortfleet. There seems to be a strong tie to the navy as thomas waghorn whose statue stands at the top of Military road in chatam I cannot remember his rank at this stage but he was the man who surveyed the "overland route" his grave is in the cmall churchyard at snodland. My relatives are gggrandfather William waghorn Master bootmaker From Tovil Maistone also reference to him living in Islington burried in tovil church yard.
ggrandfather Herbert Waghorn master cooper who maried mary Foster Clark Heiress to the custard firm. Grandfather Ernest Waghorn emigrated to the USA acane back to fight in the first war served under sir william Danvers Waghorn.
 father Bernard Ernest Waghorn.
